A profound but not unexpected bit of data was included in the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's Education Update this
past July.  The third paragraph of the article, "Caught in the Middle," read, "Most of the research says that we start losing kids in the 4th and 5th grades, where they can become disinterested or turned off to school.  In fact, according to the June 2009 NMSA (National Middle School Association) report Putting Middle Grades Students on the Graduation Path, a 6th grade student who fails to pass language arts or mathematics, attend school at least 80 percent of the time, or have good behavior, will have only a 10-20 percent chance of graduating from high school on time."  More...

We will NOT be having the Back-to-School Night on September 21, but look forward to seeing our parents/guardians on Parent Conference Day on September 29, 2010 on a first come, first served basis (no appts. necessary) from 10:30 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. (with teachers' lunchtime from 1:30 P.M.  -  2:00 P.M.).

Mr. Bob Boettger, Director of the Cambridge Center at Chesapeake College will be present at our Meet and Greet program, beginning at 6:00 P.M. on August 23 to talk with parents about dual enrollment and programs Chesapeake College has to offer.  He will be located in our media center.
