Welcome to Tiger Town!
We have promoted, here at our Mace's Lane Middle School, the Three Traits of a Tiger, Cunning, Patience, and Persistence.
I would like to share some additional thoughts about this matter of persistence, most coming from an article which appeared in the February, 2012 edition of the MENSA Bulletin.
Ask our Tigers here at school and they will tell you that our focus, with respect to persistence, is on attendance and punctuality.  We want our students to come to school every day and be on time.
However, it is easy to see how the use of this term can be expanded to cover any number of venues, which Lisa Van Gemert does in her article Bear Down.
"Research shows it's not enough to be smart," she begins.  "To get where you want to go in life, you'll need determination, stamina, and grit."  Using examples like Robert Falcon Scott's ill-fated return from an exploration trip to the South Pole and others, Gemert drives her point home.
